The United Way's ENGAGE Summit is a vibrant gathering of change-makers, leaders, and community advocates united by a shared mission: fostering meaningful connections and driving lasting impact.

This year’s theme, "Embracing Purpose," focuses on how discovering one’s purpose can unlock the potential for both personal and professional growth, while also contributing to the greater good of the community.

Through an inspiring keynote session, panel, hands-on workshop, and dynamic networking opportunities, participants will discover how aligning with their purpose can unlock potential, amplify growth, and contribute to the greater good. Andrea Ramirez

Chief Executive Officer at Amistad

The 8th annual ENGAGE Summit will feature a keynote address from local nonprofit leader, Andrea Ramirez, CEO of Amistad. Throughout her leadership, Andrea has played a pivotal role in the organization and has led Amistad through some of its most difficult times. In her address, Andrea will share how her story of resilience has driven her passion for creating meaningful change in the El Paso community. She will also dive into how her sense of purpose has shaped her career, personal life, and philanthropic journey.​

Mrs. Andrea Ramirez has dedicated 14 years to Amistad, a nonprofit, community-based organization, and has grown into several key roles during her tenure. She began her career with Amistad as the Director of the Aging, Disability & Transportation Resource Center (ADTRC) before advancing to the position of Chief Operating Officer for Social Service Programs. In February 2020, she was promoted to Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Her success at the organization is rooted in her deep commitment to serving people, her skills in grant writing, and her focus on sustainability to ensure the delivery of essential services to vulnerable populations. Mrs. Ramirez values her staff as the core of her success, prioritizing the morale and development of her team as part of her leadership approach.

 

She is highly credentialed, holding a Master of Counseling with a specialization in Marriage, Family, and Child Therapy. Additionally, she is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), and a Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP). Mrs. Ramirez is passionate about giving back to her community and currently serves as a Board Member for El Paso Health and the El Paso Chamber Foundation. She also sits on the advisory committee for Vitalant Blood Services and has held leadership roles in El Paso SHRM, including Diversity and Inclusion Director and Vice President of Programs. A graduate of Leadership Class 41, she was honored as a Woman of Impact by El Paso Inc. in 2021.

Ale Salcedo

Advocacy & Program Coordinator, GECU

Ale Salcedo is the Advocacy & Program Coordinator at GECU in El Paso, Texas, with over 11 years of service. She is passionate about advocating for credit unions and promoting their member-focused values. Ale is actively involved in the Credit Union Young Professionals Movement and served on the Board for El Paso's Young Professionals for 2023-2024. She has contributed to the United Way of El Paso County for several years, including chairing the Basic Needs panel for Community Impact Allocations and as a member of the REALIZE Board Training Program. Ale is also a certified board member of Casa de Peregrinos Food Program. In her free time, she enjoys journaling, arts and crafts, and traveling.

This panel brings together a diverse group of leaders to share how they found their purpose and put it into action. The conversation will explore how embracing their unique purpose shapes their leadership, personal lives, and inspired them to give back to the community. â€‹â€‹

Diligent Purpose Workshop

This workshop helps participants align meaningful goals with their core values through self-reflection and purpose-driven strategies. Participants will:

​

  • Identify personal values through exercises and discussions.

  • Understand how values support achieving significant goals.

  • Use tools like the SMART Goal framework to set actionable objectives.

 

The session includes storytelling, interactive activities, and practical techniques, ending with steps to align vision, values, and goals.
