This month’s Member Spotlight features YLS Advisory Board President, Christopher Montoya. His passion for the El Paso community and giving back is truly inspiring. Read on to learn more about this young professional and his El Paso-based background.
Tell us about yourself.
I was born and raised in El Paso, Texas, my parents are Yolanda and Jose Montoya. I am the youngest of four children, I have two sisters and one brother. School has always been really important to me. I am a graduate of Canutillo High School, I then continued my education at El Paso Community College, the University of Texas at El Paso, and obtained my Masters in Business Administration with Delta Mu Delta International Honors from the University of Phoenix- El Paso campus.
What are some of the major milestones in your professional life?
Being able to win five leadership and service district awards and Star Performer of the Year, two years in a row, in my four-year career at Wells Fargo Bank.
How does YLS add value to your personal and/or professional life?
YLS has helped me tremendously with being able to be more confident in my abilities. The professional development and networking events have given me the opportunity to connect with amazing individuals out in the community.
What is your favorite thing to do out of work in El Paso?
My favorite thing to do outside of work is to give back to my community. If I am not volunteering, I am spending time with family and friends.
What would be your personal motto?
Always stay humble and kind; make sure to surround yourself with people with the same values which provide faith, hope, and love in my life.
